Maggie’s Ice Cream Shop (Maggie’s) is a family owned ice cream shop that grew out of a 2005 family decision to invest in the development of the Grant Station complex in Grant-Valkaria, Florida. A major requirement for this investment was to have an outstanding source of desserts to support of our destination wedding operation. As Grant Station developed, a national yogurt company wanted to become part of a planned restaurant and we accepted their offer. However, almost two years later as the completion of the first Phase of development neared, the yogurt company encountered production issues and stopped all expansion activities. In hindsight, this surprise was good for our customers because it allowed us to bring them an ice cream rated #1 on both Google and Yelp in the state of Maryland.
Our ice cream is made in our Old Grant Creamery kitchen at Grant Station and in the Maggie's Ice Cream shop kitchen located in the Shoppes of Baytree. At both locations we use the very same ice cream mix, recipes, and equipment that are used in the Maryland store. Our ice cream chef has been trained in the Maryland store by Ice-Cream Mike who has over 55 years experience perfecting his 330+ recipes. Key equipment are smaller versions of what B & J and H-D use. In addition, we are the only Florida customer of a creamery located in upstate New York that makes the premium quality ice cream mix that we use in all our products.
As Maggie’s starts its 4th month of operation we continue to work hard at getting our new staff trained in all aspects of operation in the store front. We are making good progress in getting the kinks worked-out and becoming more consistant in the art of scooping; cone sizing; and, making milk shakes, sundaes, banana splits and smoothies. In addition, as we became more knowledgeable of our local communities we recognized some price adjustments were needed in our menu and also added a loyalty of card for our repeat customers.
In summary, once we have a full team of qualified staff on board we start to phase in Maggie’s Bistro. This new addition will feature a selection of coffee products made from freshly roasted beans from Olando's # 1 roaster (TBD). These coffee’s will be augmented by a nice selection of delicious high-end pastries from a local bakery.
